Ann served as a Conservative Councillor for Summertown and Wolvercote between June 1957 and May 1970. She returned to the City Council as Member for Wolvercote, becoming Sheriff in 1973/4 and Lord Mayor in 1976/77. She was made an Honorary Alderman on 9th November 1995, shortly after her retirement in May 1995. Ann was also a Member of Oxfordshire County Council and served as Chairman from 1981-83.
